Homework – Barn Owls and Woodpeckers
Spelling:
Please find attached the full list of Y1 common exception words. Please help your child to learn how to spell these words (both as a list as well as in full sentences). We will upload activities to help the children learn these words and will practice them in class together. A new set of words should be introduced to your child every two weeks.
Maths:
Please find attached ideas of activities to complete with your child weekly. They are aligned with what your child will be learning that week. There will also be attached some additional sheets to support learning maths at home. Please ensure these are stuck in the child’s homework book.
Reading:
Please aim to listen to your child read their reading book to you at least three times per week. This will have a huge impact on their word-reading accuracy and fluency. Some children will also bring home flashcards with key vocabulary from the texts they are reading in RWI lessons. Please practise reading these each day to help build up their speed and sight recognition.
*Homework is collected on Wednesdays and returned on Fridays.
* We also love seeing any additional work your child completes at home, including activities linked to other subjects and things they have been learning. Please ensure any completed work is stuck into your child’s homework book so we can celebrate their efforts, as teachers and teaching assistants do not have time to stick in loose sheets at school. Thank you in advance for your support with this.
